WINTER, 2007-2008 SATURDAY FLY TYING DEMONSTRATIONS
OPEN TO PUBLIC– NO CHARGE 10:00 A.M. TO 1:00 P.M., Saturdays from November 17th, 2007 to March 1st, 2008 This All Seasons Angler feature has become a winter-time institution for regional fly-fishers. We are beginning these early in order to answer customer demand to see more demonstrations. Attending these Saturday morning demos is a great way to learn tying techniques, new and old, and to stay current on the use of materials, again new and old. The tiers we feature are among the best. Each has great experience in use of the flies they will demonstrate, and each is ready to share their knowledge and skills with you. Here is the schedule for several Saturdays beginning November 17th. We will announce the rest of our schedule as it develops. March 9th Marc Beitia
Marc Beitia Marc grew up fly-fishing local streams such as Porcupine and Robinson creeks in the Targhee National Forest, and Slug and Diamond creeks in the Caribou National Forest in the mid to late ‘60s and 70’s. His Dad’s Fenwick rod and a few general patterns were all that was necessary for having a great day. School and work took up some of the 80’s, but for the best part of 40 years he has been chasing fish with a fly. Marc does not guide or tie commercially but manages to catch a few fish. He refined his fly-fishing skills with small nymphs and dries on the Fort Hall Reservation spring creeks; which according to Dr. Fred Hyde, “If you can catch fish here you can catch them anywhere.” The Doctor is right! Mark has found success where he adapts from a few existing patterns, although quite a few of his favorites are of his own creation. They work not only on those demanding Reservation streams, but for his three girls, and those with whom he fishes. He enjoys being at the tying bench, and will share some of his ideas during the demo. Marc is new to tying at our demos, and we look forward to seeing his products from the tying vise. Especially those for the tough spring creeks!
