Flows are still considerably higher than usual for this time of season. This makes for tough wading, but float fishing has been somewhat productive for those using streamers and terrestrial patterns tight to banks.

Flows are almost double traditional amounts for this time of year, but look for them to drop as flow out of Palisades Dam ramps down. Meanwhile terrestrial and streamer patterns close to banks will bring action.

No significant change in flows here. Best fishing remains below Blackfoot where streamers and hopper are best patterns. In a few weeks look for snowflake dun emergence on the river just above American Falls Reservoir.

River is running considerably higher than normal below Henry’s Fork confluence. This makes for a bit of a slowdown in fishing. Nevertheless we have had some reports of good fishing (hoppers & streamers close to the banks) the river just above American Falls Reservoir.

It’s a great time to float the river above American Falls Reservoir. The trip from Tilden Bridge to the McTucker access can be very good. Besides streamer patterns, bring hoppers and present them tight to grassy banks near good covering water.

Best on the river remains float fishing below Blackfoot. But If you are willing to fish to after dark in the evening, you can have some action from fish chasing hexes on Gem Lake and on the river just above Idaho Falls.
