Salmon River Steelhead 10/30
Water is beginning to cool into the lower 40s in Deg. F. This means present flies deep. They are arriving in good numbers, so expect some action before winter moves in and puts on a slowdown.

The upcoming storm will mean great streamer fishing up and down the river. This will also make for BWO activity, so look also for fish taking BWO patterns. Dress warmly!
Many of these waters will close the end of November. Some will not be accessible soon because roads will not be maintained as winter moves in. Some that should be accessible through November include lower Teton River, lower Fall River, Birch Creek, and the middle and lower parts of the Portneuf River. Consult with us with respect to fishing conditions and access for these.
Fishing closes Sunday, so only a few days are left to get and enjoy some terrific streamer fishing on the Madison, Gibbon, Gardner, Lewis and Snake rivers. Stormy weather is predicted so watch the roads, and if you are in the Park be sure to have some BWO and caddis life cycle patterns in your fly box.
Everything seems the same here: flows, weather (really nice)streamers in low light conditions, few BWOs during the same conditions, big nymphs. But this weekend a change is coming to put us closer to winter with the clouds and rain/snow. Look then for streamer fishing to pick up daytimes, and if the wind is gentle BWOs will bring fish to the surface.
Look for action to pick up with the storm coming in. Browns on the lower will be moving in better numbers, and BWOS will begin emerging during daytimes.
Chesterfield and Daniels reservoirs are the stars of the show here. Use leech patterns in fall colors and midge life cycle patterns for action. Springfield Res. is coming on, too. Same kind of flies, and fish open water around weed beds.
Action is picking up in the shallow water all around the lake. Look for weeds to be breaking up and leech patterns in fall colors to be increasingly effective. Dress warmly!
No change here to speak of other than streamers will get you into the big fish on the lower river. Low light conditions will be the best times to be here.
The Madison River is fishing very well throughout. Nymphing is the way to go below Quake Lake, but streamers are working well. Above Quake streamers bring the best action. Migrating browns are providing action on the Beaverhead.
