Streamers and large nymphs are working well on the river between Quake and Hebgen lakes. The same is going on for the river below Slide Inn. Don’t overlook BWO and caddis patterns. Beaverhead browns are moving and taking streamers.

The Madison River is fishing very well throughout. Nymphing is the way to go below Quake Lake, but streamers are working well. Above Quake streamers bring the best action. Migrating browns are providing action on the Beaverhead.

The middle Madison is making up for the high water that resulted from problems at Hebgen Dam. Great responses to streamer patterns, large nymphs, BWO life cycle, and caddis patterns. Hebgen Lake continues to offer good fishing for those presenting streamer patterns in estuaries.

We have some reports of fishing picking up in Clark Canyon Reservoir for those presenting leech patterns near the Red Rock inlet. Flow out of the dam is around 300 cfs, but look for reductions in the near future. The Madison River below Quake Lake is fishing fine, the problem is in the road conditions for getting there.

The Madison River below Hebgen Lake is fishing well. Want to catch some Madison Browns? Streamers are the way to find them. The same holds true for the Beaverhead River where browns are moving.

Folks in the know are heading to the river! Steelies are on the way! More fish are on the way, but soon crowds will build up, so now is the time to have the best experience.

Walking the shoreline of Hebgen Lake to present streamers is still effective. So is fishing streamers in the river above the reservoir. Fishing on the Madison River below Quake is near where it should be thanks to the fix on Hebgen Dam.

A temporary fix has been put on Hebgen Dam, so fishing on the Madison below is improving and will continue to do so throughout the fall season barring more problems with flows out of the dam. Walking the shoreline around Hebgen Lake and presenting streamers and wooly bugger types has been productive.
