Small Streams 11-10-2009
Access is becoming a problem on many of these as some roads are going to 4WD conditions. The lower Teton river offers good midge and BWO fishing. Birch Creek, Robinson Creek, and lower Fall River remain approachable.

Leech patterns in fall colors and midge pupa patterns under an indicator are the way to go almost everywhere. Chesterfield, Daniels, Hawkins, Twenty-four Mile, and Springfield are all producing for those using these patterns.
Closed to fishing until the 2010 season.
Flow out of Mackay Dam is around 85 cfs. Midge and BWO activity is providing action. Wading is easy with the low flows, so enjoy before winter sets in!
Flows on most of the river are somewhat higher than normal, but reports indicate that brown trout are responding well to streamer patterns.
We have word that the Ashton Dam is being tested for integrity. Water levels out of the dam rose about 200 cfs on November 9 in order to drop reservoir levels needed to perform the tests. It is planned to lower flows out of the dam by 200 cfs on November 13th. So be aware that this action could impact fishing below Ashton Dam for a few days.
Fish are in shallow water all around the lake. Small leech patterns in fall colors seem to work best. Ice-up is a matter of days away, so get out and enjoy these last few days on the lake.
Flow out of Palisades Dam remains at 1800 cfs for several days now. So conditions on the river are very stable. Streamer fishing for browns is at its peak with low light conditions the best time to be on the river. The BWOs are going in high gear, too. Again, PMs are best time to enjoy top water fishing for trout responding to these.
We announce our Saturday morning fly tying demos from their beginning on November 14th through the end of year 2009. Go to our fly tying demos page to view this part of the schedule. Later this month we will announce our Saturday morning tying demos For January and into February, 2010.
